The Black Bart Gunfighters

The Black Bart Gunfighters are a theatrical group specializing in taking a humorous look at the Old West.

An offshoot of the Wild Bunch of Willits, California, they have provided live entertainment for the Willits Frontier Days parade and rodeo since 1977.

“Our Club is comprised of (good guys and bad guys): gunfighters, saloon/dancehall girls, a traveling minister, youngsters, bootleggers and old pioneers. We strive for authenticity through our acting ability, costumes, props, and guns for the characters we portray. We may appear to be obnoxious, drinking moonshine or whiskey, or a little flirtatious, but it is all part of the act!”

“One of the main purposes of our club is to go out and enjoy ourselves, while at the same time see that everyone is having a good time. We strive to have fun providing good-olde western entertainment while keeping the memory of the Old West alive. We don't just come out and put on a show, we mingle and invite our audience to participate in some of our skits.”

The Black Bart Gunfighters Club is affiliated and insured through the NRA (National Rifle Association). Each and every member goes through an extensive gun safety course before participating in any skits that involve gunfights. At the beginning of every show a gun safety demonstration is given to demonstrate to the audience what a blank can do.

The Black Bart Gunfighters Club is a non-profit organization. In addition to local performances, they book shows in advance and travel to various locations outside of Willits. Occasionally they make surprise appearances and sign autographs on Black Bart money. They are also known to perform shot-gun (surprise!) weddings and arrest people. With advance notice, they will perform at private parties, weddings, birthdays, and other special events. And, they are more than happy to have their audience take photos and videos of them.

Black Bart Gunfighters Club has fun… and in the process raises a little money doing a show. While all donations earned each year are directed toward scholarships, a small amount is garnered to pay for insurance and a few supplies.
